First day is done..

Just a quick word about how the first day went… I am here with a group of student nurses from Oklahoma Baptist University. Their travels were not quite as smooth as mine- they had to add a stop in Istanbul and got here at 7am instead of 10pm the night before… but they rocked it today- they took a quick nap and we have been going since 10:30 this morning- we walked up the hill for a nice breakfast, then did some grocery shopping for our upcoming meals, and then spent the afternoon getting a briefing and sorting through our medicines- we didn’t finish getting them sorted to be dispensed. We have just now finished a nice meal our team leader prepared for us, and enjoyed a Bible study time together.

What I heard from our team: we all have concerns about physical stamina for all that lies ahead- we have an ambition schedule! (I keep reminding myself I work 12 hour shifts so surely I can manage a 8 hour clinic day- but we will see.). If you see this soon, please pray for all of us, but especially the Oklahoma part of the group, for good sleep and rest tonight and in the next several days as we adjust to an 8 and 9 hour time zone change.

Tomorrow we will be worshipping at Parkland Baptist Church here in Nairobi, enjoying lunch out together, and then we will sort through all those medicines… pictures to come.
