So, since I wrote earlier today I got sick- appeared to have what the students had that stayed back yesterday. But, it only lasted a few hours. I took a nap, was careful with my hydration and nutrition, and I seem to be doing okay. Pray for continued health- tomorrow we leave at 6:30am, have a 2.5 hour trip to the border, who knows how long crossing the border, and then a 30 minute drive to Longido where our hotel is.
Second challenge: we heard from the organization’s logistic coordinator that we in fact needed another Kenyan visa to re-enter when we return next Thursday. Apparently there were changes made that went into effect on January 4th. So, it appeared to be an easy fix. I applied and have my new visa in process. However, after dinner my colleague attempted to do the 6 remaining visa applications (I was not feeling well and sleeping). For whatever reason his computer wouldn’t do it- he just got the endless spinning wheel. When I began to feel better, I started doing some and was able to complete all the remaining applications! You know what the hardest part was? trying to get the files from one computer to mine- we finally reverted to old school methods and put it on a memory stick! We are grateful to have this in process- we were very concerned about leaving the country without a visa in place to get us back in. We were considering making a huge change and not going which would have been devastating. This part of our medical ministry is actually a pretty big deal- we are opening up some new work with national pastors. We have a number of colleagues from TZ that are involved as well as several from Kenya. So, thanks be to God for making a way!
Pray for safe travels tomorrow- we will be riding in a safari truck- very fun! And pray these visa applications are granted- we will have limited if any internet access once we get to TZ.
